IBM CSC Canada1 team ship is sailing from 28th sept to 27th oct in Halifax

It was a decade ago in 2008 when IBM decided to come out with a unique program which will Leverage IBM’s problem-solving culture to empower community organizations to address complex issues, develop the leadership and functional skills of IBMers and at the same time deepen IBMers’ connection to IBM.
It was indeed a breakthrough idea to deliver excellence in leadership development and impact for communities facing critical challenges while demonstrating IBM’s innovation in skills, technology and citizen diplomacy.
IBM continued to deliver this program successfully and provided the ultimate experience throughout.

Now I come to the story of how IBM CSC Canada1 was born. While IBM CSC programs have been very successful in developing countries and has delivered benefits in solving critical on the ground issues of these communities, it was the first time in 2018 IBM started looking into unique challenges faced by the communities in the developed countries like USA, CANADA & AUSTRALIA. After lotsof evaluations and hard work done by CSC operations team, they picked 16 highly passionate, multi talented experts in various areas like:Agile, Analytics, Cognitive, Design thinking, Project Management, Consulting, Social, Mobile etc to come together in Halifax for a month and work closely with the four very prestigious organizations listed below to address some key challenges they are facing .

I am sure you already know them, still let me take a privilege to introduce you formally :

The Institute for Ocean Research Enterprise (IORE) exists to align opportunities within the ocean sector to benefit the region and the marine science and marine technology sectors. By brokering partnerships among industry, universities, government and private institutions, IORE is working to enhance both the competitiveness of ocean industries and our knowledge base.

The Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) is a leading settlement organization that works in partnership with similar and complementary organizations to offer services and opportunities to enable
immigrants to fully participate in Canadian life.

The Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) is a community college serving the province of Nova Scotia through a network of 13 campuses and three community learning centers.

The Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) has a broad mandate that includes responsibility for early childhood development and the education of children and youth through the Nova Scotia’s public school system.

So the big question was who is going to help us getting connected with these four organizations and will facilitate as a bridge for us to be able to work smoothly while we are in Halifax ?
The answer came in the form of “Digital Opportunity Trust”…the dot….

Digital Opportunity Trust

DOT is a youth-led movement of daring social innovators who have the tools, knowledge, and networks to create opportunities and transform their own communities and we are pretty confident that we together will be transforming Halifax community towards a better future with better solutions and a better place to live in …

Stay tuned for more updates as we land in Halifax soon and continue to follow us for our CSC experience and how we help in transforming challenges into success stories in this beautiful heaven ….
