How Purpose, Persistence, and a Burning Desire Can Help You Succeed

“Thoughts are things,” says Napoleon Hill, “powerful things, when mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches or other material objects.”

In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Hill talks about how our thinking gets in the way of accomplishing our goals. He says, “Much of that which is taught in schools is of no value whatsoever in connection with the business of earning a living or accumulating riches.” Instead, he says, it comes down to a few key things.

#1 A BURNING DESIRE: You must know what you want (AND you must REALLY want it).

There are countless examples of people who wanted something and eventually got it. There are way more examples of people who said they wanted something and never even came close. According to Hill, the difference is in knowing what you want.
