After hundreds of commitments are made to expand CS education at the annual CSforALL Summit, the focus for school systems shifts to the question of: How do we implement high-quality CS education locally?

This question will be answered for 17 local education agencies (such as school districts, tribal councils, and charter networks) during the first national SCRIPT Symposium from January 14–16 in La Jolla, CA.

During the event, local teams and leaders will work through the SCRIPT process to create systems for rigorous, inclusive and sustainable computer science education for more than 300k local K-12 students.

“The symposium is an opportunity for leaders attending to consider deeply what is needed to bring computer science education to all of their students,” says Leigh Ann DeLyser, managing partner of CSforALL. “Students have different needs, and there isn’t a one-size-fits all strategy.”

The format of the SCRIPT Symposium includes a one-day facilitator training followed by a two-day SCRIPT workshop; it is sponsored by Dell Technologies.

“We’ve added the facilitator training so individual states and regional organizations can offer their own workshops for SCRIPT after the Symposium, and so there is a local network of partners to support the programs long-term,” explains Lauren Wright, program manager, SCRIPT.

“Connecting the dots from what computer science education is to what will work best locally to implement is an important part of ensuring a sustainable and lasting impact,” adds DeLyser.

Additional national SCRIPT events will be announced in early 2019; follow CSforALL on social media to learn more.
