Sarah Drasner and Val Head listen to Estelle Weyl answers a question from the audience.

This year, Val Head and Sarah Drasner bring their Web Animation Workshop to CSS Dev Conf 2017 New Orleans.

We asked Val and Sarah a few questions about their workshop. Their answers might give you some insight on what to expect at CSS Dev Conf and from their Web Animation Workshop.

This isn’t your first time at CSS Dev Conf. For newcomers, what would you like people to know before they attend so that they can get the most of their time?

CSS Dev Conf is always a great time. Chatting with other folks between sessions or at lunch can lead to the most interesting conversations and learning of the conference.

It’s so great to learn from people across the field, and because the session selection is community-driven, the topics are always current and incredibly interesting. Bring a notebook! Because you’ll want to write down all the great ideas and takeaways you’ll have.

This is the first time you’re doing workshop at CSS Dev Conf. What can attendees expect in a workshop setting that’s longer a typical conference session?

People say they feel more prepared to tackle web animation projects and to confidently know which web technology they should use for animation in their projects. Past attendees have also told us that the workshop has inspired them to try new creative things with animation. We think both those things are pretty great.

What are the main skills will attendees gain from your Web Animation Workshop? How will their new skills affect their workflow?

Attendees will gain a solid foundation in the world of web animation and all the options we have to create motion on the web. They’ll know how to pick the right web animation tool for the job at hand and have a chance to try out some the technologies for themselves during the workshop too.

Attendees usually get going creating amazing things even during the course of the workshop! That’s the most interesting part for us: seeing what people make and how they use animation in their projects after, from invisible animation that helps with the user experience on the site to tackling really tough technical issues.

You can grab a Workshop Ticket to go along with your CSS Dev Conf Ticket. Workshops include catered breakfast and lunch.

We hope you’ll join us for CSS Dev Conference and Val and Sarah’s Workshop. Register now and join us in New Orleans this October 9–11, 2017!
