Room Reveal: Retro Blue Bathroom
Aaaat Laaaaaaaasssssst!! The bathroom is done. And I have moved away. SMH. Right after finishing my bedroom too! Check it out, if you haven’t already. This basically Part 2 of my home and life makeover:
Soooo….without further adieu, here is the BIG (tiny actually) BATHROOM REVEAL!! Drum Roll, please!!!
……
Ta daaa!!!
Alrrrriiightie, so let’s start at the very beginning. I woke up one day feeling fed up and just plain DONE with the builder-grade beige, beige and more beige (with some fun browns!) bathroom.
First step was to rip everything out and paint!!! I cleared out the bathroom, removing the sink and cabinet, too. I turned off the water supply, of course. Somehow no bathrooms were flooded in the process, although there may have been a close call or two. (Sh! Don’t tell anyone!)
I began with a simple update and painted the walls white.
I also jumped on the Rust-o-leum trend, painting the floor and bathroom shower tiles white! Painting tile is a huge pain. For me it payed off on the shower walls, however after a second coat the paint on the floor tiles peeled and buckled. Would not recommend :/ Just get it professionally re-tiled. It’s not worth the effort.
I updated the shower head while I was at it! Rain shower heads for the win! Best investment ever!!! I also got a nice extended arm for the shower head.
I knew that I wanted a black and white base color scheme. I used black spray paint to revitalize that horrible fake-antique mirror and added black accents by spray painting the outlet covers. I also went with a cute black and white shower curtain on a black rod to contrast with all that white paint!
I wasn’t sure what pop of color to go with, until I was wandering through an awesome antique store with my partner in crime. She definitely saw an opportunity here. Don’t ask how the two of us carted this thing home in my Mazda3…
So we got it home, and I removed the part I was interested in using.
I now had a color scheme. Next I found a matching retro blue sink on Craigslist, bought a matching blue toilet seat set on Amazon, and a medicine cabinet from IKEA. I needed to figure out how to get the oven under my sink!!
I came across a really cool dresser in Kohl’s that was the PERFECT size to fit under the sink and hold the oven dials!
Finishing touches included the black rubber bath accessories set from CB2, ladder shelf and other pieces from IKEA, as well as towels and bath rugs from Target.
