Compassion is a Verb
Towards healing community (From 5/16/2018)
This week, I’m talking to Paola Mendoza in the CTZN Podcast about woke motherhood, reimagining citizenship and joy as an act of resistance. But what stuck with me the most was how she talked about our ability to hold two truths at the same time. And I think that is exactly what we need to practice right now. Whether we are holding the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the messiness of waking up to racism, our capacity to be both accepting and compassionate AND persistent in pursuit of justice feels essential to moving humanity forward. It’s not about getting it perfect. It’s about getting connected.
Let’s not cancel each other out when we make mistakes or cause harm. Let’s get vulnerable and curious about how we can repair the breach and move towards healing and community.
