Katy Perry Spotted in Havana
Katy Perry was in Havana this week, getting acquainted with some of Cuba’s renowned arts education programs.
According to several Havana press, the singer on Tuesday (Oct. 13) visited the children’s theater group La Colmenita, where she sang and danced with the kids. Like Perry, La Colmenita director Carlos Alberto “Tin” Cremata and the company’s young members are UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.
Also on Perry’s schedule was a stop at Havana’s National Arts School.
It was Perry’s second visit to the island in a week. Last weekend, the singer flew to Havana, where she attended a party where the entertainment included salsa singer Issac Delgado and his band, and the seminal rumba troupe Los Muñequitos de Matanzas.
Perry’s Havana weekend was reported by the national newspaper Granma, the official Communist Party publication that following the return of diplomatic relations with the United States has turned to reporting on the comings and goings of music stars, who have also included Rihanna and Mick Jagger.
Katy left the island to perform in Puerto Rico Monday night, then returned to Havana Tuesday morning. There were no reports, as yet, about Perry planning a concert in Cuba.
