Life is a joke and you are the punchline.

You are the final act in an exquisitely framed joke that is being retold on a loop. And no, it’s not because the universe has its podcast stuck on a loop due to a faulty device. It’s because when a joke is so consistently brilliant you ‘put it on a loop. As Trina aptly put it in that one episode of ‘Victorious’ where Ke$ha guest starred: “it’s been on loop forever!”

One thing you may have observed from the above paragraph is that the word ‘loop’ came up a lot.

Why?

  • I may claim that it stands for L-Life O-Only O-Ousts P-Power; OR
  • L-Life O-Only O-Ousts P-People; OR
  • L-Life O-just does O-whatever it P- wants without regards for your preferences; BUT
  • One thing is certain, turning a word into an abbreviation that conveys a deeper meaning is difficult.

A punchline is the last part of a story that explains the meaning of what previously happened or makes what happened previously funny. Essentially, your (our) existence is the latter part of the story that makes it hilarious, we are the ‘kick’, the ‘punchline’.

THEORY: Each generation screws things up for the next

To put things in perspective, Jerrod Carmichael once questioned the need for his active participation in preventing global warming:

“Who am I saving the planet for? My grandkids?! ... Who cares...I’ll be dead; it’s not immediate enough for me to care…”

PUNCHLINE:

A couple of millennia from now, a few of Carmichael’s great grandkids will most likely get sucked into space on one casual afternoon hover boarding home from school. Why? Because their Great-grandfather chose to drive instead of riding a bike to work.

And his remaining Great-grandkids will survive long enough to screw up the lives of their grandchildren.

Game. Set. Loop.
