What a month March 2016 has been for Cucumbertown! After nearly three months of anticipation, our new version of the editor, RecipeWriter V2.0 was launched amidst a lot of fanfare. So you guys already know we have a lot of exciting news for you. Here are our major updates on what was cooking at the Cucumbrtown office the last month.

  • RecipeWriter V 2.0 launch
  • First Quarter of Monetization complete
  • Cucumbertown Bangalore Blogger Meet
  • A Milestone In Blogger Numbers

The RecipeWriter V2.0

If you have been following this magazine you will be aware of that we have been working on this editor for a good long time. And it looks like it was well worth the wait. Our users are loving the experience so far! Look at what some of them had to say:

Wondering what the fuss is about? Then don’t forget to check out our new editor by writing a post on Cucumbertown and we have also put together a compilation of articles for the RecipeWriter.

Like I always tell you, we are waiting eagerly for feedback and would love to hear what you think about this. So drop me a line on chef@cucumbertown.com and let me know what you think of our new editor!

First Quarter of Monetization

Although we started off with our monetization experiments sometime in November, March marked our first successful quarter of monetization. In fact Shrini, our head of monetization, sent out the first batch of excel sheets to our blogger with all the earning related data. Of course we had wanted to showcase this on our dashboard, but time has been the devil, and it will be a few months before bloggers can log in and see the dollars pile up on the dashboard. Until then we will have to rely on our trusty excel sheets to bring those little moments of joy and validation.

We have also started off with some experiments on premium features, convenience products and exclusive content. Watch this space for more information on that.

The Blogger Meet

Towards the end of this marathon month, we also had our CEO, Cherian in town. And that seemed like the perfect occasion to have an in house office hour with our Bangalore bloggers and the ones who are in the process of making the move to Cucumbertown. Quite obviously, when food bloggers get together, food has to be involved somewhere in the equation. So a potluck seemed like just what we needed!

What a fun session it was! From feedback on the RecipeWriter, to plan for world domination, everything was quite literally on the table.

The New Members of the Family

The Cucumbertown family is growing, and how! We now have over 3000 food blogs hosted on Cucumbertown, and the list is mushrooming! This month we has quite a few additions including Thou Shalt Cook, Tangy Tales and many more. We also have more additions to our ever growing pipeline of bloggers, so exciting times ahead!

What To Look Forward To

Now that the editor is complete, we are geared to the next big thing. And that is the new set of convenience features and premium content that we will be rolling out very soon. The team is working on an app layer that will present convenience features including unit conversions, calorimeters and so on.

Besides this we are also going to be bringing to you some updates exclusive to monetization to keep you up to speed on what has been happening so far and what to expect in the near future.

So as you can see it has been a marathon this March! But nothing is slowing us down, so stay tuned for some major updates in our April edition too. And don’t forget to subscribe to the Cucumbertown Magazine for all the tidbits from Team Cucumbertown.
