Cudos mainnet and Token Migration update 2 — CUDOS

We’ve reached a crucial period in our march to mainnet. After completing various fixes and the successful third-party audit of our Gravity Bridge, an essential component of our broader Token Migration strategy, our final dress rehearsal testing is now underway! We highlighted this critical pre-mainnet step in our previous community update as a thorough assessment of the network’s performance following the numerous tweaks we’ve implemented since the last dress rehearsal (DR). This exercise will entail a comprehensive test of the Cudos network carried out by our devs and engineering teams and will serve as the ultimate assessment before launch. We encourage developers to participate in this testing, as it will help ensure a smooth launch of the Cudos mainnet.

With the DR ongoing, 18 out of 27 validators have completed the initial phase. A notable feat as we enter only the 2nd day of the exercise. We’re proceeding at a significantly quicker pace than the previous DR.

The final DR marks another critical step toward building a fully decentralised and community-owned ecosystem. The DR is vital to our pre-mainnet testing as it allows us to replicate the network’s mainnet environment and visualise how it holds up under adversarial conditions. This helps us discover and resolve potential issues before the launch of the mainnet. Everything is proceeding as planned, and we remain on schedule for a successful Cudos network launch.

Temporary staking and Token migration freeze

After completing the dress rehearsal testing, we will pause staking rewards, smart contracts, and address mapping. This pause will allow us to assess the testing results and make any necessary improvements before launching the mainnet. Therefore, we’re grateful for your patience and support as we work towards a successful mainnet release.

Public testnet upgrade

We’ve upgraded our public testnet network to version 0.9. In a podcast, our blockchain product manager, Ethan Illingworth, highlighted why the public testnet is important for evaluating the network’s readiness for a mainnet environment. Public testnets provide a more adversarial testing environment than private testnets. Our public testnet will enable anyone in our developer community to contribute to the strength of the network.
