Whopping 41% enterprise employees are considering leaving their job, do you know why?
“COLLABORATION” is one of those words that gets thrown around a lot in the workplace from hiring managers using it in their job descriptions to applicants’ resumes. Although we often hear how important it is to collaborate and operate as a team, doing so is a whole different matter.
When diverse people work together, there can be either excellent or poor collaboration. When team members are driven by their inflexible beliefs and self-absorbed mindset, it makes for poor collaboration which hampers:
❌ project success
❌ team morale, and
❌ company productivity
Have a look at the display picture, what do you see?
Three people are making braids and all of them are doing it differently. It is because each one of them has a different understanding of the challenge that they are trying to solve.
And this is what we call a “POOR Collaboration”. 🙅♀️ 🙅♂️
Do you know?
A Whopping 41% of enterprise employees either have left their job or would consider leaving their job due to poor collaboration at work.
Employers and business decision-makers are also realizing the benefits of a collaborative approach; according to 80% of decision-makers, they need to enhance departmental collaboration and 75% said they would like to enhance departmental collaboration as well.
What can we do to improve collaboration?
True Collaboration comes when each member of the diverse team is able to tap into their authentic creative energies and share their knowledge, thoughts, and ideas 💡 forward without the fear of being judged.
To enable effective collaboration, a variety of abilities are needed from team leaders as well as team members. Here are a few of them:
- Trust
- Tolerance
- Empathy
- Active Listening
- Open-mindedness
One of the ways to improve collaboration is by having “facilitated meetings” where the focus is on group participation and dynamics.
“Facilitated meetings” help to improve the collaboration encouraging team alignment and helping all the team members including introverts to share their thoughts.
When individuals feel like they are being heard and valued, they get motivated to contribute at their fullest which improves overall work productivity and efficiency.
At the end, we all are human beings with emotions and all we want is to be heard, appreciated and valued which can be enabled through a skilled facilitator.
