Just think about what you do when you are looking for something on the Internet — a majority of the population including myself, use Google!

So, if the majority of people are using Google, then you as a small business owner need to be easily found on Google. The exciting thing is that Google is so much more than an online search engine, or a cheap alternative to Office 365. If you are starting a small business, or already own one, you can utilize Google to attract customers and get ahead of competitors.

Here are six ways Google Tools can help your business stand out:

Google My Business:

Google My Business is a free Google product that makes it easy for businesses to manage their online presence. In Google My Business you’ll also be able to manage Google Reviews, Insights, Google Analytics, and start a Hangout message chat. While Google My Business is not a replacement for making a website, it’s a great compliment to any business’ online presence by making it all easier to manage!

Google+ Page:

Setting up a Google+ page constitutes a huge chunk of Google My Business. With a Google+ page, businesses can build a following and keep customers coming back with news updates, event announcements, and special offers and discounts. Business Google+ pages let you keep contacts in the loop by sharing status updates, photos, videos and links.

With a Google+ page, you can integrate customers and followers into your marketing campaigns — they can use the +1 button to endorse your posts and share your content on their Google+ pages and throughout the web.

Google Posts:

With Google Posts, anyone authorized to manage your Google My Business listing can create short, social media-like updates right from the Google My Business dashboard to tell people about daily specials, current offers, new products, company news, or upcoming events at your location.

Google Analytics:

If you have a website, you MUST have Google Analytics set up and working correctly. If you are not yet connected, then you are missing out on a massive amount of FREE information about the visitors to your website. This can help your small business so much.

It offers a range of visitor demographics & metrics, such as audience engagement, mobile and social media traffic, bounce rates (the rate at which visitors stay on a website or move among pages), and more. It also includes referral traffic information (where traffic is coming from) to gauge whether marketing campaigns are working and how they can be improved. GA allows you to target your customer more specifically, fix areas of your site that need to be optimized and track successful events.

Look at all this data!

Google Adwords:

For a small business, Google AdWords can be a hugely successful method of driving traffic, marketing your product and ultimately getting increased sales. Plus, you can use the insight you gained from Google Analytics to better target your audience.

Google YouTube:

YouTube contributes to 2nd most amount of searches online over other sites. Over 128 million people in the US and over 800 million globally visit YouTube at least once a month. Plus, YouTube is expanding it’s ad features, to help small businesses make better ads and share them nationally!

What better way to connect with potential customers or tell your brand’s story than through video. The emotional chords that videos can string are much more powerful than text or pictures.

G-Suite:

Many businesses find that G-Suite is a good alternative to Microsoft 365 product. Especially if you are already using Google for personal email. If you love Gmail, you’ll appreciate that G Suite lets you access your business email using the Gmail platform but without the @gmail.com extension. You’ll be able to use a custom email address with your business’s domain, such as you@companyname.com. G Suite also offers a calendar, Drive (which includes the office apps Docs, Sheets and Slides), hangout and more.

If you are starting a business, making a website, or looking to market yourself better, it is vital to embrace some or all of the tools that Google has to offer.
