Delightful and delicious Middle Eastern dessert.

Course- Dessert
Prep time- 30 minutes
Cook time- 45 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2cups Maida(all-purpose flour)
  • 1/4tbsp baking soda
  • 1cup warm water
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1cup sugar
  • 1cup water
  • 1tbsp Elaichi powder
  • 1/2cup melted butter/ghee
  • 1cup roasted pistachio nuts
  • 2tbsp cornstarch flour

METHOD

Sheet making:

Take maida, baking soda and 1tbsp ghee in a bowl and mix it thoroughly. Add water to this mixture and knead a soft and smooth dough. Make sure that the dough comes out together (can be checked by pulling it from the sides of the bowl). Sprinkle some flour on the surface and place the dough on it. Knead the dough until it is elastic, and put the dough in a plastic wrap for 15 minutes. Divide the dough into small balls, dust some flour on the floor and roll the balls to make as thin sheets as possible.

Sugar syrup:

Heat water and sugar in a saucepan on medium flame and reduce the flame to low when it starts to boil. Cook for 15 minutes and add elaichi powder at this stage. Put it aside to cool down for a while.

Roll making:

Preheat the oven to 320 F. Meanwhile, apply melted ghee on a sheet. Prepare a paste of cornstarch and maida in water and apply it on sides. Place around 1tbsp of chopped pista on the sheet, roll them and make sure they are properly bound. Apply a little more butter on the rolls and place them in a baking tray. Bake the rolls for around 45 minutes (till golden brown). Pour some sugar syrup over it and let it cool. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve them with happiness!
