We are so close to the long weekend I can smell it. Do you have your plans yet? I’ve been talking to people and poking around to deliver to you my highest recommendations. Of course, it depends on what you’re into, but I like to think I’m into all of it.

Emo Dance Party
Thursday 9p-2a
Wait. Dancing to Emo music? Can you picture it? I can! As a young 20-something frequenting dance clubs in the 90's in Europe I distinctly remember how we danced to New Found Glory, Bush and The Offspring. We just ran around in a circle. Tonight at Downbeat Lounge they will be testing the waters with circa 2000’s emo rock. It’s small in there which makes it sound even more fun. If you have a mouth guard maybe wear that.

Tittahbyte at the Laylow Waikiki
Friday 9p-12a
If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out the newest addition to the rising Kuhio District of Waikiki, this is a really great reason. A block Ewa of the new International Marketplace, I’m seeing this hipster hotel attracting a regular flow of locals to hang out and have drinks. Valet parking is free up to 3 hours and the outdoor patio at the Lay Low is something dreams were made of. Filed with highly Instagramable nooks and crannies, lush green plants everywhere, bright and flowery art, fire-pits, floating cocoon chairs, tiki torches, and sounds from the low key Queen of Honolulu Ms Riana Stellberg.

DJ Supercw’s Vibey Weekend at the SurfJack Hotel & Swim Club
Friday 2p-5p and Saturday 1p-4p
The perfect time to hit Waikiki is before sunset. Chill out at this award-winning “millennial minded” hotel. Catch my vibey tunes in the lush garden surrounding Mahina & Sun’s, arguably one of the best healthy menus east of the Pali. The pool is under construction but the lanai is still tropical and fun. Thanks for the interview, SurfJack!

Sunday FUNday at RumFire Waikiki
Sunday 2p-7p
Sorry I’m not doing the big giant pool party ragers you might have been to or heard about in years past. The venue has the last word on that and for now, the Sheraton Waikiki is the only property open to it. They will be presenting a much more relaxed vibe at the Infinity pool. Purchase a cabana and get pool access. Guess who gets to play all the daytime tunes though! (Spoiler alert: me).
