Our team (Charis Zarbalas, Christos Daniilidis, Martha Davari, Danai Lyratzi, Frossini Drakouli) had a long meeting on the 26th of November and once we sat down the brainstorming began. First of all we wrote down our goals and then we discussed and decided what we are going to focus on.

What we want to accomplish is for the museum to have some loyal clients. We want to make the café-bar of the Benaki museum and the store more attractive and appealing to the crowd.

All of us had a lot of great ideas form the very beginning but first, we needed to decide what kind of audience and which groups we want to draw. After our visits at the museum we observed that there weren’t any families, kids, teens or young adults in the crowd. Therefore, we thought that most of our ideas should focus on this direction.

We also decided to classify our ideas based on the season. So, we have some ideas for Christmas, for the spring and for the summer.

When it comes to Christmas, we thought that the Benaki museum could host a Christmas village or even a surface for ice skating at its outdoors area. There could be multiple workshops, seasonal drinks and foods offered for the whole family.

The outdoors area could also be used for great theme parties a specific day every week. We all agreed that it would be really efficient if the Benaki museum had some preprogrammed events every week, the same day. So, the parties would be a great idea for Friday nights, for example. Another idea is the establishments of “jazz nights” every Thursday, or maybe some Monday morning workshops for university students.

We also know that nowadays the idea of brunch is very popular. The museum’s customers on Saturday mornings could easily increase by offering brunch at the café. During the summer, we could also offer the opportunity of picnic at the outdoors area by preparing lunchboxes and by making the area more appealing and by putting some tables, plants and maybe some music, too.

When it comes to Sundays, we all agreed that it’s definitely the family day. Therefore, we could add some workshops, games, maybe treasure haunting and other activities for the children while the parents would enjoy their coffee at the museum’s café.

Finally, after these ideas, we discussed about sponsorships and partnerships because through mutual advertising, the museum could really rise. So, the first partner that came to our minds was some beverage brand that could sponsor for example our jazz nights. Another great deal could be one with Uber or Taxibeat so that the customers can leave late at night, after our parties, with a cab but in a better prize. Also, the 1+1 deals that Vodafone and Cosmote offer seem to work for other companies so maybe, the museum could try it too, when it comes to drinks or even tickets.
