The dog’s tail was slammed in the door. Red blood seeping out into the white tip. The yelp mixed in with the slamming metal of the outer gate which ended up closing regardless of the jam. I wiped it off with a black cloth that Musette uses to wash her face with. And now time is slipping away into tomorrow. The small gap of my own world with you is shorter tonight than it was last. It’s because I was too noisy last night, walking around on the creaky wooden floors, my keys clacking beneath my finger presses, the dog shifting around on top of Musette’s body on the bed, my back bumping into the soles of her exposed feet.

We have some remnant of a vessel that we are holding on with, edging against the expanses of space, out beyond of the triumph of our first little webbed war. Every moment precious. Every opportunity that rings the gut to be lunged into, placing ourselves as the catalyst to its momentousness.

There are tasks on tomorrow’s docket, emailed to me by my boss who has agreed to pay me for four hours of work.

Just don’t gouge me, he said, telling me that I will probably be pretty worthless my first go around at it. SEO work. It not mattering that others don’t see my vape blog as something worthy because he does and it’s bringing presents to my Christmas tree, the store being open on Thanksgiving, the person who has to work that day reaching out to the other employees, looking for someone to cover his shift.

There’s no night shift that day, my boss told me, after he’d asked what I’d be doing and I’d told him that I’d probably be spending it with my brother in law.

I had originally thought when he’d asked me that that he was inviting me to dinner.

Musette has to work that day too, but not until five thirty. She has to go in early so that she can go home early and someone else can start their night shift early. Her restaurant being a Thanksgiving hot spot, it’s location so prominently placed upon the parade route. She has been working hard these days prior to it to prepare. And all I can think about is what if ISIS blows her up.
