Does Cultural Diplomacy work?
The Ditchley Foundation based at Ditchley Park near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, aims to promote international understanding and relations, especially Anglo-American relations, through a programme of around twelve annual conferences on matters of international interest (source Wikipedia).
At a 2012 conference, participants met to analyse what cultural diplomacy could offer in today’s world and concluded that “cultural interaction was more desperately needed than ever to prevent increasing misunderstanding, parochialism and xenophobia in a dangerous world; and the scepticism of many about the value of investing in culture and cultural diplomacy.”
