Title says it all, but there is a story behind this simple, hard-won advice.

I was running a crew on yet another transmission line through southside Virginia. For those who have never worked in the southern part of Virginia, just north of where it borders North Carolina, let me assure you that you have made strong life decisions.

It’s a land where everything is used as timber forest, but not in the professional, forestry kind of way. It’s just clear cut and then left to grow up in pine scrub, which isn’t easy to lay a straight transect of shovel…
