Coheed & Cambria Start Their Next Chapter in Emphatic Fashion with ‘Blind Side Sonny’
With most of their music centering on the sci-fi space odyssey known as The Amory Wars, Coheed & Cambria have always set themselves apart from other rock bands. At the same time, the prog-rock quartet from Nyack, New York consisting of guitarist & vocalist Claudio Sanchez, guitarist Travis Stever, drummer Josh Eppard and bassist Zach Cooper have a way of uniting their talents to create an array of rip-roaring songs. The latest example of this is the single “Blind Side Sonny”, which just came out today (October 2). It’s the band’s next installment that’s sure to preview an upcoming body of work following their 2022 full-length record Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind, which garnered a ton of acclaim upon its release. The title of the single comes from a new villain within The Amory Wars storyline as the song itself is an absolute ripper.
The theme behind the track centers upon malevolence and how perspective can fuel the emotions behind it. Sometimes something that wasn’t intended to be malicious can come off as otherwise depending on another person’s point of view.
“’Blind Side Sonny’ is a song about revenge,” Sanchez says via a press release. “What may seem like an innocent choice to someone could be the breeding ground of another’s malicious misunderstanding. Perception can be your worst enemy.”
The music video for the single captures the energy of a Coheed & Cambria live show in an outdoor setting. Speaking of live shows, the band’s next one is going to be at Furnace Fest happening in Birmingham, Alabama on October 5. Be on the lookout for when they’re going to be coming back to the New England region sometime next year, but for now, click play in the link below to dive into a blisteringly electrifying tune.
