When it comes to the sound of rock during the mid-90s, few bands are as identifiable with that era as the London alternative act Bush. For example, both Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase are some of the best albums that came out of that time period. Rather than put themselves in a box, the musical entity led by vocalist & guitarist Gavin Rossdale has exhibited a steady sonic progression. This is evident with the material that’s been created with current members Chris Traynor on lead guitar, Corey Britz on bass and Nik Hughes on drums. Folks around “The Creative Capitol” will be able to witness this for themselves when Bush come to the Providence Performing Arts Center on 220 Weybosset Street on November 21 with Detroit rockers Eva Under Fire and Los Angeles groove metal dynamos Bad Wolves starting things off at 7pm.

Rossdale and I had a talk ahead of the show about this progression I just alluded to, his acting career and how it’s been a while since Bush last played Providence.

Over the past couple of albums, Bush has explored a heavier sound with the most recent album The Art Of Survival being influenced by metal bands such as Mastodon, Slipknot and System of a Down. What would you say is the catalyst for this musical direction the band has taken over the past few years?
