When it comes to a setting for a horror flick, they usually take place during either one of two parts of the year. There’s the obvious time of Halloween where the motif fits the theme, and the other is summer. Numerous films from the Friday the 13th franchise come to mind along with the ’90s hit I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Boston new wave act Parlour Bells have embraced this for a new music video. It’s for their single “Slasher Movie Weather” and it’s officially out today. From watching it, there are numerous scenes that pay homage to the cult genre with the song itself having a nice blend of melody and harmony.

The single is off of the band’s upcoming To Be Or Not To Behave EP that’s due out in the near future. With lead singer Goddamn Glenn’s face covered in a crimson mask while lying down with his head tilted towards the camera, the rest of the video has Glenn’s wife Honey Pie acting scenes out with fellow burlesque dancers.

“One of my guilty pleasures on a sweltering summer night is sitting in my office with the air conditioning cranked and watching some of the lousiest, cheesiest slasher movies from the 80s,” Goddamn Glenn says about his inspiration for the song and video.

“Growing up on those movies made me who I am today, where I want to be scantily clad and I want to see other women scantily clad,” Honey Pie adds about having her and her friends involved in the filming. “I always wanted to be the girl in the 80s music video and in the horror movies, and now I get to be both.”

Along with acting in the music video, both Goddamn Glenn and Honey Pie also did the writing and directing for it. To see the result of a really cool vision and idea, check out “Slasher Movie Weather” and enjoy.
