Ever since the first one started in Ithaca, New York back in 2007, Porchfests have been a unique musical experience popping up in various cities and towns all over the United States and Canada. Metropolises like Buffalo, Sacramento, Cleveland, Salt Lake City, Jacksonville, Montreal, Philadelphia and Kansas City have been putting on their own versions. There are also ones that take place all over Massachusetts and Connecticut on an annual basis. With this being apparent, it was only a matter of time until Providence got in on the action. Following up a successful debut last year, the second edition of the city’s Porchfest will be taking place on June 8 with a ton of acts playing in various areas within the East Side neighborhood from noon to 6pm.

There’s roughly 100 performers who will be taking part in the event ranging from amplified bands to acoustic-driven ensembles to solo singer-songwriters. A bunch of streets will be blocked off from driving so folks who attend don’t have to crowd up the sidewalks in order to safely enjoy themselves.

“On Saturday, June 8 the 2nd Annual Providence Porchfest — a free, family-friendly, community event — will once again bring music and fellowship to the East Side in a series of outdoor concerts hosted on neighborhood porches,” the organizers collectively say. “We are excited to report that we already have lots of interest this year’s Providence Porchfest. We have confirmed many acts already, some returning for a second year and others making their Porchfest debut!”

Out of the numerous acts exhibiting their craft, some of them include How’s About Charlie, Sunset Creatures, The Scruffy Aristocrats, Seatbelt, Grizzlies, Evening Sky, Mark Cutler, Beth Barron, Jesse Desorcy, Becca Neveu, Sean Patrick Carney and Olivia Dolphin.
