At a point in a person’s life, they’ll start establishing goals for what they want to do with their time. This can range between writing a book to starting a full-fledged business, but regardless of what it is, the most important step is beginning the process rather than sitting on your ass and doing nothing. With this message in mind, Providence punk blues act The Jake Wasson Malpractice have a new single out today (August 30) titled “Traffic Cam”. The song has cool riffs and rhythms while embracing a genuine emotional edge that’s been a trademark of Wasson’s music. It’s also the first tune he wrote that included parts for drummer Zack Wedge and bassist Brian Fink.

The track was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Galilee Productions in Cumberland with the one and only George Dussault. It’s a preview to the band’s upcoming album, Everything Is on Fire, which is due out in the near future.

“‘Traffic Cam’ is a song about going after what you want,” Wasson says about the single. “It’s about realizing in hindsight that you should have gone for it all along, but making the decision to start now instead of wallowing in regret. It’s one of the first songs I wrote specifically with a full band in mind, as opposed to working with Brian Fink and Zack Wedge to adapt earlier songs I wrote as a solo artist. While I wrote the lyrics and basic structure on my own, bringing it to life in its current form was a collaborative process and I couldn’t be happier with the result.”

To give “Traffic Cam” a listen, it’s relatively simple. Just click on the link below and dive right in.
