In today’s day and age where streaming services are the main source of convenient entertainment and most people can’t pay attention to something for more than five minutes, the way music is being released is changing and evolving. There are different modes of thought pertaining to how a full-length record should be properly unveiled in order to maximize the amount of plays it gets. Some of these thoughts negate the LP altogether with more of an emphasis being put towards singles and EPs. For Boston singer-songwriter Will Dailey, he’s exploring and creating his own path through this landscape with his upcoming album Boys Talking, which will be exclusively available at his shows and on his website starting in October. The first single off of the record is “Make Another Me” and it’s officially out today. (September 27)

For the making of the tune, Dailey got a few friends together, some who are local stalwarts and others who are legit savants. There’s a bit of an ambient dream pop quality within the tune that makes it easy for the senses to be immersed in.

“Here is something I hope you’ll enjoy,” he says about the new single via social media. “It’s amazing if this even finds your eyes, never mind your ears and then possibly your heart and/or mind. But I enjoyed the shit out of making this song with Juliana Hatfield, Dave Brophy, James Rohr, Jeremy Moses Curtis, Kevin Barry, Fabiola Mendéz, Cody Nilsen, Andrew Stern. I sincerely consider it monumental if it finds some time with you.”

Along with Dailey on lead vocals and guitar, Hatfield backs him up on the singing duties with Nilsen on pedal steel, Barry on lap steel, Rohr on keys and Mendéz on the cuatro. Brophy and Curtis round things out on drums and bass respectively. If you’re looking to hear this song played live along with a bunch of others, catch Dailey on tour with the Philadelphia rock & roll act Low Cut Connie starting at the Portland House of Music in Portland, Maine on October 8. In the meantime, press play on the link below and give “Make Another Me” a listen.
