The agile manifesto is so compatible to anyone undergoing a course of coaching. It follows so many similar principles and when applied to correctly to any sort of journey, provides an amazing platform for innovation. What it doesn’t do is try to give you any guarantees of an exact finished product with fully detailed plans and numbers and for a lot of people, that can be scary both in life and in work. Releasing the specifics will set you free. Let’s look at how agile and you can work.

What Is Agile?

Many people make the mistake of thinking that Agile is a framework, the Agile manifesto is much more than a software delivery framework. There are some great frameworks, Scrum, Kanban and there’s even extended frameworks for large organisations such as safe but they are not Agile by themselves. It’s a mindset that allows you to experiment and gain data to achieve your goals. It also allows you the freedom to shift your goals to complement your ever changing reality. Here are my golden life rules.

Vision Is Key

Visioning and long term goals of where you want to be, who you want to be and what you want to have is a great way to focus your attention on elements of your life that have value. Your core principles, being your authentic self with your wants and desires make a great B.

Always Adapt

Life changes all the time and what works one week may not the next. In order to succeed, sometimes we need to change the path and sometimes we may need to change the end game. By being open to change and setting smaller goals on the journey to ‘B’, we allow ourselves to adapt to the feedback around us and succeed at every stage.

Working vs Expectation

People can be guilty of setting unrealistic or unreachable expectations. Don’t get me wrong, visions should be dream like, inspiring, motivating and as big as you like but goals need to be something that works. What works will guide you to the next goal towards your visions — don’t get bogged down in the detail and ditch what doesn’t work.
