School Bus Driver Organizes Surprise Book Drive for Students — Jermaine Bethea, a former school bus driver from Tempe, Arizona, wanted to give back to the children he used to drive to Curry Elementary. Despite taking on a new position at Valley Metro, the local public transportation system, Bethea wanted to give back to the children he worked with and ensure they ended the school year on a good note.

Bethea organized a book drive with his coworkers at Valley Metro, raising more than 2,100 books altogether. When he arrived at the school on May 16th with a bus filled with books, the children were overjoyed.

“It was a great chance to see how many people in our community are willing to put things together for our students to make their lives better,” says Principal Kenneth White. “This is just another shining example of what public schools are out there doing for our kids.”

Donald Trump’s Big Adventure — Donald Trump went on his first international trip since becoming president last week. This trip came right in the middle of a volatile past couple weeks at home, with concerns over the administration’s connections with Russia.

With popular opinion of Trump’s trip wavering between embarrassing, comical or disastrous to America’s standing with our allies, this trip could have went much better. From his meeting with the pope to his awkward handshake with French President Emmanuel Macron, political satirists and social media comedians have had a field day with Trump’s trip.

Johnson/Hanks 2020 — In the past 239 years America has been a nation, we’ve seen all kinds of men take the highest office in the land. But the latest contender for office might be the strangest one yet.

Former professional wrestler/movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s opening monologue on Saturday Night Live’s season finale was based on his recent comments about running in the 2020 presidential election. He invited movie star Tom Hanks to run as his Vice-President in his proposed campaign.

“When it comes to politics, we need more poise and less noise,” Johnson said, to cheers. “Americans deserve strong capable leaders. Leaders who care about this country and care about its people.”

While this was all played for laughs in the skit, crazier things have happened in this country. At least Johnson can sell a better Stunner than our current president.
