Act of Kindness Goes Viral — At a time of increasing political and social tensions, it’s heartwarming to see simple acts of kindness and the impact they can have on the world around us.

Casey Spelman was visiting Wrigleyville with some friends when she saw Yusef Dale attempting to hail a cab near Wrigley Field. Dale, who is blind, was having difficulty getting a cab after the game. Spelman approached Dale and asked him if he needed help, to which he replied he did. After a short while Spelman was able to hail a cab and hugged him goodbye as he departed.

Unbeknownst to them, Ryan Hamilton was on the rooftop of the nearby Old Crow Smokehouse and saw the whole thing. Hamilton posted the images he took on Facebook where it went viral. As of today, Hamilton’s post has received over 25,000 likes and 8,000 shares, and has been seen by millions of people.

The next day Spelman was surprised at her newfound fame but is humbled by the praise she’s received and is taking it in stride.

“It’s OK if you are unsure of how to interact with someone, but do your best, be brave, and just be willing to help,” said Spelman. “I think if you treat someone with respect it will always be appreciated.”

Aside from Kevin Durant congratulations and LeBron James hate, it was Chicago Bulls guard Dwyane Wade’s Finals outfit, which inspired comparisons ranging from a Gucci Mane clone, a Grand Theft Auto character and a villain on the 1970s sitcom Starsky and Hutch, that stole the show.

Stan — After over fifteen years since Eminem released his hit song “Stan” on his second album The Marshall Mathers LP, the term “stan” has entered the public lexicon as a term for obsessive fans who take their fandom to dangerous levels.

Now the Oxford English Dictionary has officially recognized “stan” as a word. A stan signifies “an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity” and can be used as either a noun or a verb.
