The weather in Chicago is (maybe) finally starting to warm up and so too is the basement! Every spring, there’s a least a couple local artists that drop a hot feature or a viral visual and this week’s guest certainly fits that bill.

In the local scene, there are few artists breaking as much ground as hip-hop sensation Ausar. With features from peers like Femdot and a strong debut project, the arrow is tilting up on him. On this session, we sat and chat about the struggles of being a student and a musician, how his new wave has changed his fans’ expectations and the crazy story behind his “WHOLE TIME” video.

He also drops one of the hottest freestyles we had in awhile. Check him out!

ABOUT IN DA BASEMENT

Each week, the good people at Culture will bring Chicago’s hottest up-and-coming musical prospects to the forefront. In tandem with Clutch Productions and A.W.O.L Films, our aim is to provide a platform for artists to shine.

The show consists of a light, conversational interview in which we delve into the origins of the artist, their views on the city and anything from the latest social media trends to their favorite Bulls player.

The latter half features a freestyle performance where show host Swisha Pearl joins the guest in “blessing the basement.”

Join us as we discover the best of Chicago’s thriving music scene. Get an intimate view of the artists you’ll soon see blow up on social media as well as a rare opportunity to catch a special freestyle.
