In Da Basement S3, Session №1: Vonte
With the new year just days away and Christmas in the rear view, we wanted to get prepared for a big 2018 with the launch of Season 3 of In Da Basement!
For more than a year, we’ve been bringing music lovers the best of Chicago’s eclectic, yet thriving underground hip-hop scene. Over 20 artists interviewed and we still haven’t cracked the surface of the number of talented artists pushing Chicago hip-hop forward. We look forward to discovering new talent with and for you in 2k18!
For the premier of Season 3, we brought our old friend and native West Sider Vonte to the basement.

We talked with Vonte about the Derrick Rose vs. Russell Westbrook discussion, how going to college influenced his music, what the “new” Chicago music scene is, and what we can expect from his newest project “N!GGA.”

ABOUT IN DA BASEMENT
Each week, the good people at Culture will bring Chicago’s hottest up-and-coming musical prospects to the forefront. In tandem with Clutch Productions and A.W.O.L Films, our aim is to provide a platform for artists to shine.
The show consists of a light, conversational interview in which we delve into the origins of the artist, their views on the city and anything from the latest social media trends to their favorite Bulls player.
The latter half features a freestyle performance where show host Swisha Pearl joins the guest in “blessing the basement.”
Join us as we discover the best of Chicago’s thriving music scene. Get an intimate view of the artists you’ll soon see blow up on social media as well as a rare opportunity to catch a special freestyle.
