Where has the time gone in 2018? Despite not ever really reaching a Spring season in Chicago, we’re already at Mother’s Day weekend! As we prepare to shower the maternal figures of our lives with love, put them onto some Chicago heat and introduce them to the In Da Basement series!

This week’s artist, Kenyadda, is a great place to start.

The local MC stopped by and made some new friends with the CULTURE crew. Kenyadda chatted about his style and finding his nichè, his various musical inspirations and what exactly makes rappers from the city of wind different from spitters elsewhere.

He also left us with another hot freestyle to fester on as we go about our weekend! Pull up a chair, and one for mom’s, and enjoy this session!

ABOUT IN DA BASEMENT

Each week, the good people at Culture will bring Chicago’s hottest up-and-coming musical prospects to the forefront. In tandem with Clutch Productions and A.W.O.L Films, our aim is to provide a platform for artists to shine.

The show consists of a light, conversational interview in which we delve into the origins of the artist, their views on the city and anything from the latest social media trends to their favorite Bulls player.

The latter half features a freestyle performance where show host Swisha Pearl joins the guest in “blessing the basement.”

Join us as we discover the best of Chicago’s thriving music scene. Get an intimate view of the artists you’ll soon see blow up on social media as well as a rare opportunity to catch a special freestyle.
