Radio and music aficionado Sway has been putting the masses on to dope MCs and hidden hip-hop gems since the early 2000s. When it comes to discovering new lanes in rap music, there aren’t many people putting on for the culture like Sway-Dizzle.

While promoting his latest musical endeavor, Windy, Chicago’s own The Boy Illinois took to Sway’s show to discuss some things only found in the city of wind.

One of the highlights of the conversation came when Sway asked TBI how his single, “footwork,” came into development. Illinois explained how the local dance style can also be used to relate to both relationship and personal journeys.

“I gotta hit it. I gotta roll on you shorty, I gotta hit you with the footwork.”

Illi also pays respect to Chicago legends King Charles (a footworking virtuoso) and rapping icon Bump J — which he credits for inspiring his namesake.

You can download and stream “Windy,” on Soundcloud or anywhere else music can be found in these times.
