ArtPrize annually offers over $280,000 in grants to artists, venues, curators and educators to facilitate their participation in the world’s largest annual art competition. For the second consecutive year, ArtPrize will offer ten $1,000 matching grants to artists seeking to fund their ambitious ArtPrize Nine projects through a campaign and matching challenge hosted at GoFundMe.com, thanks to the Michigan Lottery.

The Michigan Lottery seeks to further nurture the vitality of this international event that each year transforms our community — spurring conversation and catalyzing creativity through this Matching Grant Challenge.

The Matching Grant Challenge will launch on July 10th at Noon– offering ten $1,000 matching grants to the first ten artists to reach a goal of $1,000 in their own GoFundMe.com crowdsourcing campaign.

To qualify for a The ArtPrize Artist Matching Grant, artists must meet the following requirements:

1. Have successfully made a Connection with an ArtPrize Venue prior to the start of the Matching Challenge.

2. Raise at least $1,000 in their GoFundMe.com crowdsourcing campaign.

3. Receive donations from at least 10 unique donors.

Artists participating in the ArtPrize Artist Matching Grant Challenge at GoFundMe.com will be highlighted in ArtPrize social media efforts leading up to ArtPrize Nine.

Artists that have applied for another ArtPrize grant (for example: Artist Seed Grants, Featured Public Project Grants) are still eligible to participate in this Matching Grant Challenge program.

An artist who successfully reaches their $1,000 fundraising goal and receives the matching grant may continue to fundraise through their GoFundMe.com campaign. It is also important to note that a cancelled ArtPrize Nine project will not qualify for a matching grant and all unused grant funds must be refunded.
