Liz Bacelar

Liz Bacelar is the founder of Decoded Fashion, the top global event series connecting decision-makers in Fashion and Retail to new technologies. The summits in NYC, London, Milan and Tokyo were produced with top industry partners including the CFDA, the BFC, IMG, Conde Nast and Pitti Immagine. The company was acquired in 2014. In January 2016, Liz joined WIRED Editor-in-Chief David Rowan to launch FLOW Journeys, an invitation-only adventure series bringing extraordinary people to the world’s most stunning locations. Prior to becoming a serial entrepreneur, angel investor and advisor, Liz was an award-winning journalist and network TV producer. Her work has been featured on WIRED UK, Techcrunch, CBS News and NBC News.

Suzanne Mancini

Suzanne Mancini earned a BFA in Apparel Design at RISD and a MA in Education from NYU. She lived in New York City and worked as a women’s wear designer at the beginning of her career. Designing at Mass Market, Private Label and Designer levels gave Ms. Mancini a broad scope of the fashion industry. She returned to Rhode Island and over the past twenty five years she has taught in the areas of design and collection development at RISD, while maintaining her own freelance business. While teaching at RISD Ms. Mancini has collaborated on work with the RISD Museum, Nike, Levi’s, Urban Outfitters and JC Penney. Most recently Ms. Mancini’s work has focused on digital patternmaking and virtual prototyping of garments. This technology and research have been pivotal in her most recent work and classes. A lifelong learner, Ms. Mancini resides in Rhode Island with her family, while continuing to teach, study, research and collaborate.

Amanda Parkes

Dr. Amanda Parkes is a fashion technologist with over 10 years of experience in wearable technology, interaction design, and fashion innovation. She is the Chief of Technology and Research at Manufacture NY, a hybrid fashion incubator/factory/research facility in Brooklyn NY where she is leading the development of a high tech fashion & textiles R&D space with joint research around advanced digital fabrication, wearable electronics, and material science, She is currently a visiting scientist at the MIT Media Lab and an adjunct professor in the Columbia University Department of Architecture. She received a PhD & M.S. in Tangible Media from the MIT Media Lab and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Product Design) and a B.A. in Art History from Stanford University. She is an international speaker & lecturer including TED, DLD, PSFK, WEF and the New York Times International Luxury Conference and her design work has been awarded in forums including the ID Magazine Annual Design Review, the Prix Ars Electronica, and the D&AD Awards. She was named to the 2014 Business of Fashion 500 People Shaping the Global Fashion Industry. Outside the lab she likes to sew, surf and amass exquisite shoes.

Octavian Costache

Octavian Costache is an ex-Googler: author of Multiple Inboxes in Gmail, Charts on Google Finance, and contributions to Google Maps and Maps Search. He’s written code in Javascript, Actionscript, Java, C++, Ruby, ObjectiveC, and Go. He likes skydiving, paragliding, and pretending to be Borat.

Deborah Park

Deborah Park is the Vice President of CLO Virtual Fashion Inc., 3D design tool used to visualize true-to-life 3D garments. CLO is headquartered in Seoul, Korea, with additional offices in Shanghai and New York.

The event will take place in the Segal Theatre at The Graduate Center (365 5th Avenue, 1st Floor).
