REVIEW: Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounges

Haneda Airport (HND), Tokyo, Japan. April 2015

--

Although I was flying to Hong Kong from Tokyo (HND) in JAL Economy, I was able to access the lounges with my American Airlines Platinum elite status (Oneworld Sapphire), which grants me access to Oneworld Business Class Lounges when flying internationally on a Oneworld partner. In the International Terminal at Haneda, JAL offers two Business Class lounges: Sakura Lounge and Sakura Lounge Sky View, as well as a new Cathay Pacific Lounge.

Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge

This lounge was decently busy the April morning I was there but there was no issue finding space because of how large this lounge was, spanning two levels. The overall decor is light and airy, somewhat resembling a café or bookstore.

The buffet options included both Western and Japanese breakfast options — scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns on one side and roe, broiled fish and Japanese omelettes on the other. I opted for a bit of both worlds but with an emphasis on the Japanese breakfast, pairing it with some miso soup.
