You visit a hospital for medical complaints, you’re made to carry out series of tests. You undergo these tests, you’re diagnosed, treated and given prescriptions, you pay and go.

This is the picture of a typical healthcare procedure.

what is wrong with this procedure?

Can you spot any fault in it?

I bet you don’t, but there are tons of them.

First, let’s agree on some facts.

The information collected on you are yours, agreed?

The information is critical to your well-being, any flaw or alteration can be dangerous, right?

You actually paid for those tests, and for those information to be collected on you, agreed?

If you agree to the above three questions, read on, if you don’t, well read on as well.

So this is the first problem with this procedure of healthcare delivery: the patient does not know the actual facts and details of the medical tests and information taken on him. That is to say, the hospital owns and controls the health records of the patient, and can do whatever they want with it.

Why is this a big deal? You must be wondering.

Something you don’t own, you can’t control. Since you do not own your health records, it therefore means that

  • You do not know what they do with your health information,
  • You do not know if they sell it or not
  • If alterations are made, you cannot tell
  • You do not know if your health records are secure from any form of damage or breach.

This is putting you at the mercies of the hospitals; whose database are prone to cyber-attacks. The healthcare industry is one of the highest victim of cyber-attacks per year.

How would the healthcare system rather be if not like this?

A patient-focused healthcare system is the solution to all of this.

What is a patient-focused health system?

The patient is the center of healthcare delivery. The patient owns and controls his health records and gives access to whoever he wants. He is in control of what is added or accessed by other entities like the Health Specialists, and is fully involved in all third party utilization of his records.

The decentralized (no single entity in control) nature of the blockchain technology can help us build this future where patients are the focus of the healthcare delivery system, and we’re building that future at Cura Network.

At Cura Network, we’re building a healthcare platform that will give the patient full control of his health data. The patient will be the owner of his health records and give consent to whoever he wants to access his records, while still controlling what they can access, using the Cura Network mobile application.

Cura Network is built using cutting edge blockchain technology; to ensure full security and safety from attack. Fully decentralized, patients can create an account on the platform and obtain public and private keys, and a Cura Network ID (CNID) that is universal and unique. With this ID, his health records can be organized and stored on the platform at anytime and anywhere. These records can also be accessed at anytime and anywhere using the Cura Network mobile application. Also health specialists and IOTs (Internet of Medical things) can be granted or denied access by the patient.

Cura Network is building the world’s patient-focused healthcare platform, that will provide safety, security, integrity of patients’ health records, and give the patient control over his health records, and in extension, his life, and help to promote and maintain good health and happy living.
