The future unsustainable goal that I will be basing my project on is Goal number 1, no poverty. COVID-19 has significantly derailed international progress towards equal financial dispersion and opportunity. Despite the massive setback that the pandemic inflicted, there are still ways to combat this issue of inequality.

To understand solutions to global poverty, one must first analyze the causes of global poverty. Several factors such as climate change and conflict play a part alongside the pandemic in strengthening global poverty. The pandemic has exploited the significance of social protection systems.

Social Reforms

Social protection systems have provided almost 3 billion people with sufficient supplies of medication, masks and shelter during this pandemic. However, there is still 4 billion people in this world with no medical support through this challenging time.

COVID-19 is going to have such a lasting effect that poverty rates are expected to rise for the first time in a generation, from 119 million to potentially 600 million people in 2030. So much for ending global poverty by 2030.

The reason that I am so passionate about this is because I fear that society will look past the people currently living in poverty. I hope to avoid the “well its already bad enough, nothing to do now” mentality. My philosophy on work is efficiency is maximized when an inclusive environment provides equal opportunity to all active workers.

Rising entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals would greatly benefit from understanding the issue of global poverty. These representatives hold the power to outsource ideas for new jobs and developments. With researching poorer areas, a business owner could possibly identify countless never before seen growth and expansion opportunities for not only their company, but for the local citizens as well.

2021 Will Be Better

I walked into this project aware that the global poverty rate was going to approach 7% in 2030 due to the pandemic. I am also aware that education plays a significant role in financial stability of a given area. However, I was surprised to find out that just in 2020 alone, there was an increase of 120 million people that are now classified under “extreme poverty”.

In order to help those in need, we must start communicating and interacting among each other to find solutions to our global problems. These questions all go into detail of the actual process of job creation, meaning there has to be clear steps presented to be taken in order for change to take place.

How can we use our educational resources to reach people in poorer areas with little opportunities?

Why is there so much economic struggle in a country as internationally dominant as the United States?

How can governmental policy lead to the creation of new jobs?
