As I write this article today, we have an emerging multistate health emergency for measles. It is now in my home state of Maryland, and at least two people have died nationally. Just a few years ago, measles was considered eradicated, thanks to the vaccines which safely were distributed when I was one-year-old.

A bird flu epidemic has been raging for months, resulting in the culling of 148 million birds, according to reporting on CBS News. Fortunately, it has not become fatal in humans. However, people still die each year in America from Covid 19, RSV and many other infectious diseases.

We have a returning Administration who has chosen a “vaccine denier” as the head of Health and Human Services. The man has already provided dangerous misinformation to our citizens, none of it based on facts and science/peer reviewed data.

In addition, our government has disengaged from the World Health Organization and (illegally) defunded US AID. This organization, which was founded in 1961, is responsible for reducing the number of AIDS cases worldwide. It also prevents horribly dangerous diseases like Leprosy, Ebola, Polio and mosquito-born infections from being spread worldwide.
