SILVER SPRING, Md., June 24, 2016 — Just days before NASA’s Juno orbiter is set to arrive at the planet Jupiter, science buffs can get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into the story behind the mission in Destination: Jupiter, a new short-form documentary premiering today in Ultra HD 4K on CuriosityStream, the world’s first ad-free streaming documentary service.

Juno’s expected July 4th arrival at the gas giant follows a spectacular 1.75-billion-mile, five-year journey across the solar system in one of the most highly anticipated planetary explorations to date that’s expected to reveal the mysteries of Jupiter’s violent storms, its composition and formation, and secrets about our own planet Earth.

Destination: Jupiter chronicles the inside story behind the ground-breaking mission, featuring intimate interviews with principal investigator Dr. Scott Bolton and JPL project scientist Steven Levin. Presented in brilliant 4K ultra-high definition quality, viewers will enjoy stunning archive footage and captivating CGI produced by NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio that illustrate the vital role of the mission in uncovering some of the greatest mysteries about Earth and our entire solar system. Viewers also get a sneak peek into some of the state-of-the-art technology on board the spacecraft that will the enable it to survive Jupiter’s severe high-radiation environment — the harshest in the solar system.

The original project, produced by the UK’s Arrow Media, is a follow-on to CuriosityStream’s highly successful series Destination: Pluto and Destination: Mars, diving deep into the mysteries of the galaxy to bring fascinating, ad-free, scientific content to the masses.

“Juno’s arrival promises to be a spectacular event, offering a first-ever look into the secrets of this massive planet. We are thrilled to provide this exclusive sneak peek into what scientists hope to find as they prepare for arrival,” said Elizabeth Hendricks North, President and CEO of CuriosityStream. “It’s been a pleasure to work with the outstanding team at Arrow Media, and I know that both casual viewers and hard-core space buffs will be amazed at the stunning images and depiction of this yet undiscovered environment.”

Destination: Jupiter is executive produced by Howard Swartz for Arrow Media and Noah Morowitz, for CuriosityStream.
