The original series reveals the sometimes unexpected answers to questions of how and why civilization as we know it exists today. Each 50-minute episode dives deep into how physics, geology, biology and chemistry — forces as far back as the formation of our planet — have influenced world history as much as our own innovations, political decisions or battlefield victories.

The series is the first of two challenging projects announced by CuriosityStream at its launch in March 2015 and represents the return-to-science vision of Discovery Channel and CuriosityStream founder John Hendricks.
