Captured Feelings
Reflections on life without a TV for 7 years
The unexpected blessings of a television-free existence
The absence of a television in my life wasn’t a deliberate choice, but rather a fortunate consequence of my nomadic lifestyle.
Over the past seven years, as I’ve moved from one rental to another, across three countries, I’ve consistently found myself in spaces free of the familiar rectangular screen.
Initially, I viewed this as an inconvenience, a limitation. But as time passed, I never got the need to buy a TV myself, and I began to appreciate the impact this minor detail had on my life.
Without the constant distraction of television, I found myself drawn to more enriching pursuits. I revived the joy of reading, losing myself in the intricate worlds crafted by talented authors.
“Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs.” — Attributed to motivational speaker Zig Ziglar.
I rekindled old hobbies, such as crafting and gardening, and explored new ones, like writing and cooking.
The quiet evenings, once filled with the monotonous hum of television, now became a canvas for creativity and introspection.
