I studied Turkish when I was in my early twenties, and I loved the beauty of its rhythms and the depth of its meanings. I can’t speak Turkish now, as I haven’t practiced it and have lost most of my vocabulary.

But there are some words that have stayed with me and I cannot forget because of how they made me feel. Here are ten of my favorite ones.

1. Sevgi

Sevgi is love, it’s a rose blooming in the heart. Its petals unfurl with tenderness for loved ones, wrapping them in a warm embrace.

It’s the unwavering loyalty that keeps families strong, the invisible thread that binds friends through thick and thin. Sevgi is the melody that hums in the soul, a constant reminder of the beauty of connection.
