Whenever we think about creativity, we assume that we need to be creative people or geniuses of some kind or need a special routine advertised by some Guru to create something new.

However, creativity is just practice!

Whether we accept it or not, everything we do in life is the result of habits and continuous practice.

In this article, we will discuss how you can tap into creative habits and make it a part of your routine.

1. Start With A Mindset

Creativity is a habit.

Creativity is practice.

If we have the mindset and belief that we can tap into our creative powers through repetition and practice, it becomes very clear what the next step is. Moving forward with a growth mindset and learning along the way is key.

2. Don’t Wait For Permission

Our education system does a very bad job of killing our curiosity and passion.

In school, we are told when to sit, what to read, what to wear, and how to behave.

However, real life doesn’t work like that.

Nobody will ever give you homework to write your book publish your first novel or learn that dance choreography.

No one is coming to check whether you did something productive or not, you are on your own.

So start whatever it is you want to do and figure it out later.

3. Create On The Internet

Creating on the internet gives you leverage, you don’t know who is reading your articles or who is going to get inspired by your YouTube video.

Over time, you might create a career for yourself that you could not have imagined years before, this is how you create your own luck.

4. “That Someday Is Today”

One of my favourite non-fiction books is titled “Someday Is Today”.

In the book the author explains that we are always waiting for the perfect time, to finish the degree, and to send kids to school.

We tell ourselves that we will start writing our book when we have more time.

Unfortunately, time doesn’t wait for anyone.

The perfect day you have been waiting for is today, so act now, not tomorrow.

5. Learn On The Internet

If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self, it would be this.

Growing up, YouTube for me was the place to binge-watch music videos and the internet was mostly reserved for important things like filling out exam forms.

However, the learning potential that online courses offer is unparalleled by traditional teaching methods.

Once you buy a singing course on Udemy, you have access to it forever, you can learn from anywhere whenever it suits your fancy.

Unlike classroom lessons, you do not need to commute which saves a lot of time and money.

Learn from educational YouTube videos, invest in affordable online courses and start learning.
