Trekking for 13 days to reach a summit of 5360 meters (17,585 ft) in the mighty Himalayas isn’t an easy task. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, I was constantly challenged.

I did the Renjo-La Pass trekking, one of the highest and the most difficult passes in the Everest region. This strenuous trek was just the right opportunity for me to put to test all the life lessons I had learned.

In this type of trek, altitude sickness and extreme exhaustion are common, forcing many passionate trekkers to give up any one of the relentless uphill climbs. In addition to the physical challenge, just the view of a steep and dangerous climb ahead can be mentally defeating.

The right intention, attitude, and action are needed at all times. Any redundancy must be removed to save energy — no social media, eating junk, sleeping or waking up late, or binge-watching.

You are carrying yourself, your heavy bag with all the supplies, and perhaps your companions who are looking up to you. This is that moment when you are alive to the fullest and you have no choice but to apply the most valuable principles of life.
