MMeditating at bedtime is an excellent way to relax and prepare yourself for a night of quality, deep sleep. But if you’ve never done it before, it can feel a bit daunting. How close to bedtime should you do it? Should you do it in bed or somewhere else? Can you use an app?

This is my simple beginner’s guide to bedtime meditation. We’ll start with six simple steps to prepare for meditation and then go over 8 easy ways to engage in your bedtime meditation. And the best part? Some of those ways are super easy and don’t even feel or sound like a “true” meditation at all, so you can dive in even without prior meditation experience.

Preparing for your bedtime meditation

A bedtime meditation really isn’t that different than meditating at any other time of day. The biggest difference is that you do it before bed, often because you hope to sleep a little better.
