People talk about feeling that ‘spark’ when you meet someone new, and that's what I felt. A holiday romance that was like pure magic, a meeting of minds, a soul connection. In retrospect, I blame it on the alcohol.

I returned to London, determined to leave that spark just where I’d found it. Who needs a long-distance relationship anyway? The dating apps meant that a ‘right now’ hook-up was much closer by comparison. Who was I kidding? I’m a hopeless romantic, so I put 100% into it.

The spark became a raging fire of emotion as we communicated more. The few times we could meet in person were frustratingly infrequent, yet electrifying nonetheless.
