When it comes to emotional intelligence, I’ve been a sucker for most of my life. I have broken majority of the rules in the emotional intelligence rule book, and the outcome has been what you’d expect: anxiety and strained relationships.

This is hard to admit; it’s not something guys do. But I figured that living in this type of denial is itself being emotionally unintelligent, and that if I must avoid breaking these rules, then I have to be aware of which I’ve been breaking in the first place.

From my own fails, and those I’ve observed from others, I made a list of the things emotionally unintelligent people do. Borrowing from Charlie Munger’s idea on trying to be not stupid, the goal of this list is to provide a set of emotionally unintelligent habits to avoid for a better shot at emotional intelligence.
