Life gets harder by the day, some will say it gets easier but it sure doesn’t feel like it. What are you supposed to do when you have all this pressure on you to be successful or to reach your goals within a certain timeframe?
The feeling of pressure is not only a burden you have to carry with you but it gives you constant anxiety. With too much anxiety on your plate, you could end up falling into a depression. Isn’t it crazy how a feeling like this can be so impactful on your life?
If the pressure is doing this to you then you may need to change your perspective of it. As a human, you have to deal with pressure, it’s just part of your life cycle. It may be annoying to deal with but it helps you grow whether you can see it or not.
When pressure comes into your life, you feel overwhelmed, this can be from work, family, and even yourself. You hold yourself to a certain standard and in order to reach that standard or to maintain it, you put a lot of stuff in your life that you have to handle.
There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself this high standard, just understand that there’s a lot of pressure that comes with it. Whether you believe it or not, there will be even more responsibilities added into your life and the pressure increases little by little.
People don’t understand what you’re going through, they don’t see the late hours you put into your work in order to survive, they don’t see the family issues you have to deal with daily, and they surely don’t see the health problems that are making you uncomfortable wherever you go.
Life is hard and there’s no denying that but if you’re able to change your perspective on what’s bothering you in your life and turn those negative things into positives, you will be a lot happier with your life.
You put pressure on yourself because you know the potential with you is great, you know that you can be doing a lot better than you are now and it’s the truth.
Remind Yourself That Feeling Pressure Is Common
Everyone has at least a little bit of pressure on them, even that lady who you saw walking down the street today has a little bit of pressure on her. When you remind yourself that everyone is feeling some type of pressure on them, it makes you feel a lot better about yourself.
Think about the people who you see every day, your family, co-workers, the mailman, etc… They all have their fair share of battles they’re dealing with right now.
Don’t feel like you’re the only one who is dealing with pressure, everyone is. Some people are better at hiding it and there are some people who are better at handling it. Ask people about how they deal with pressure, you will be surprised by how many people don’t really know how to deal with it.
Again, this will help you understand that it’s okay to feel the pressure. Pressure can also be a good feeling to have too depending on how you think about it, it causes you to act.
If you know that you’re responsible for taking out the trash every Monday then you have that pressure from you and your family to tale that trash out. You know that if you don’t take the trash out that day that there will be consequences.
The feeling of pressure helps you to be more responsible and more organized in your life. You’ve dealt with pressure all of your life and you’re not doing so bad today. If the pressure has messed you up in the past then learn from it.
Maybe pressure has caused you to do some irresponsible things or make some mistakes, it happens. All you can do from that is learn and move on, pressure comes and goes and you need to be ready for when it comes. So, when you do see the feeling of pressure coming your way, look at it with a smile and embrace it.
Reaching Success Requires Pressure
There are many people who you may see in the media who seem to be cool, calm, and collected on t.v. or on social media but the reality of it is that they’re under a lot of pressure.
If you’re not famous yet, be thankful because there’s a lot of pressure that comes with it. You have to always look presentable everywhere you go, whether it’s to pick up some mail or take out the trash.
People who are in the spotlight for most of their lives have to deal with that. If you think that you have a lot of pressure on you now, imagine what it would be like if you were to become well known.
You can be successful without being famous but it still brings in a lot of pressure. When trying to accomplish whatever your goals are look at what sacrifices of added stress come with them.
You have to really ask yourself if it’s worth it and even if you do think it’s worth it, you have to constantly remind yourself that it is. Positivity and belief in yourself are two ways to deal with pressure when trying to become successful.
Having belief in yourself helps you to realize that no matter what comes in your way, you have enough belief in yourself to be successful. You don’t need the belief from anyone else just yourself.
Believing in yourself will take a lot of pressure off of your shoulders because you have the confidence to overcome it and deal with it when you need to.
Positivity helps you to move on faster, it helps you to adjust to constant pressure. Being thankful for the pressure you put on yourself and looking at it in a way where it can help you rather than defeat you is something to be happy about.
People who you look up to have to deal with pressure too. Study the ways that they deal with it and implement those same techniques into your life.
Obviously, your life is not the same as theirs but there's always something you can learn from somebody else. It may not be too obvious at first but with the right attention given, you can find ways to take a lot of pressure off of yourself.
You’re Becoming Experienced
Once you realize the amount of experience you have with pressure, you begin to understand how it works and how to properly deal with it. Now, you probably already have a lot of experience with pressure under your belt but it may still seem hard to deal with, which is normal.
You have to tell yourself that you’re experienced enough to do deal with it when it does come and you can’t be fearful. Take the knowledge you’ve gained over the years and help others who are having a hard time dealing with it as well.
Who knows who’s life you’ll change when it comes to this kind of thing. You don’t want to hold all of this knowledge in only for yourself, helps others as much as you can because everyone deals with this and not everyone is vocal about how bad pressure makes them feel.
Be excited for the next time pressure comes your way because you’ll have more information to teach people about it.
Pressure is a difficult topic to talk about, it’s something that is so obvious in our lives yet we don’t know how to deal with it. Realize what pressure is and use it to make you into a stronger person. I’ll leave you with a quote from Chadwick Boseman that says
“You have to cherish things in a different way when you know the clock is ticking, you are under pressure.”
