There is no getting around that your 20s are the most important years of your life. Period.

Why?

Well, according to psychologist and author of The Defining Decade Meg Jay:

  • You will make 80% of life’s most significant choices — marriage, buying a house, having kids, choosing a career — before the age of 35.
  • You will experience the most amount of identity and personality change in your 20s than in any other decade of your adult life.
  • The income you earn in the first 10 years of your career is a strong predictor of how much you will earn across your lifetime.

This makes what you do, who you do with and how you do it extremely important in your 20s. Every decision in your 20s can be the difference between living your life in your 30s or starting your life in your 30s.

“What is worse are the tears shed by thirtysomethings and fortysomethings because they are now paying a steep price — professionally, romantically, economically, productively — for a lack of vision in their twenties,” — Meg Jay.

So how can you make the most out of your 20s?
