Hurting People Can’t Hear You
The problem isn’t a lack of empathy; it’s a surplus of hurt
There’s this idea floating around that society has an empathy problem. It’s just one explanation given for why there’s such a strong divide between points of view. But I’ve decided lately that we don’t have an empathy problem. The problem is that we have a surplus of hurt — and hurting people simply can’t hear us.
