Souce: It’s Me!

I got married on October 8, 2022. I decided that after the wedding, I’d eat whatever I wanted for one month. I ate a minimum of 1,000 additional calories extra per day.

Leading up to the wedding I ate healthily and exercised hard. This wasn’t abnormal for me. I’m a health and fitness writer and live a very healthy and active life. But I turned it up a few notches for the wedding.

Anyone who has gone through the process of having a wedding knows how stressful it is. As soon as it was over I felt a weight lifted. My stress lowered and my appetite returned — just in time for my arrival in Portugal.

It wasn’t necessarily an intentional experiment. But as soon as I got two weeks into eating whatever I wanted I decided I’d continue it for a month. It was the first time in my life I was giving myself 100 percent freedom to eat without restraints.

I didn’t count my calories each day because that would be a type of restraint — even subconsciously. But I do have a master’s degree in nutrition so I am able to gauge my caloric intake with a pretty high degree of accuracy.
